Jim Tanious

COO & HR Director

Jim was born and raised just north of Baltimore and graduated from the University of Maryland, where he majored in Business Administration and Marketing. Jim loves all things Maryland, including Maryland beaches, crabs, and teams (go Terps, Ravens, and Orioles!). Following a proposal at Camden Yards, he and his beautiful wife, Christy, were married in 2006.  Jim and Christy were blessed with their first baby, Liliana (Lily), in July of 2013.

Prior to his employment at NCC, Jim worked for DC Public Schools (DCPS) for over 18 years. He spent 16 of those years overseeing the business and operations of an alternative DC high school, then worked for 2 years at the DCPS Central Office as a Director of Operations, where he was responsible for district-wide technology and realty. Jim has been attending NCC since 2005 and has been a volunteer production ministry leader since 2006.

Jim began overseeing the operations of NCC when he joined the team in 2011. As the COO, he focuses on human resources, contracts, property, and manages the operations team. He enjoys these roles as he is passionate about providing behind-the-scenes support to staff and service to the church body.  Jim is serving as an Interim member of the Executive Leadership Team.

When Jim is not at work, he enjoys spending time with Christy, hanging out with family and friends, playing sports (he especially loves volleyball and is ready to play anytime/anyplace), and enjoying a good steak (Ruth’s Chris is his favorite if you are buying) now and again.

Tiffany Dukes

HR-Operations Coordinator

Tiffany is one of the rare DC area natives. This pastor's kid grew up in Ocean City, MD and moved to the DC area in 2000. Tiffany has been attending NCC ever since (excluding a brief hiatus for college in Tennessee and New York, as well as extended travels to Swaziland, Colorado & Thailand.) Along with her love for travel, Tiffany is a self-proclaimed international foodie. She loves to cook and is known for occasionally whipping up fresh guacamole at her desk in the office. Her favorite activities also include NCC flag football, action water sports, trivia, dancing and spending quality time with family and friends... typically over food. Tiffany has her MS in Nonprofit Management and has served on our staff in a variety of capacities since January 2012. 

Ed Schmidgall

Project Manager

Ed works with the Operations Team on facilities and grounds projects.

Noreen Bryant

Communications Director

Noreen spent the first part of her career writing, designing, and managing communications in the marketplace, first at a major university and then for a nationwide bookstore chain. Wherever she's worked, she's also served her church in some kind of communications capacity—she estimates that she's had her hands on at least 16,872 church bulletins from Ann Arbor, Michigan, to Cologne, Germany. She most recently served as Communications Director for Chapel Springs Church in Bristow, VA. Now at National Community Church, she's thrilled to be part of another wonderful team serving the people of God. At NCC, Noreen directs ministry, event, and strategic communications.

Noreen has a degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Michigan. A lover of all things about Jesus' church, she loves to read theology and to keep abreast of what's going on across Christendom. She can be pretty quiet, but if you mention NT Wright, you might not be able to get her to shut up. She also loves Lake Superior, trying new recipes, reading big fat American biographies, and Goetze's Caramel Creams. Noreen and her husband, Bruce, have two grown children, David and Madeline.

Matt Johnson

Business and Operations Director

Matt grew up in the southern tier of New York where he also served as Executive Administrator of a local church for more than seven years prior to coming to NCC.

Having graduated from Susquehanna University with a BS in Business Administration/Micro-Economics, Matt’s service in ministry found its origins over the course of a decade in fields as varied as law enforcement, commercial sales and construction - experiences he draws from daily in the most unexpected ways. Prior to his current role at NCC, he served as our Interim CFO. 

Along with wife Nicole and sons - Gabe, Sam, and Nate, the family settled into the Washington DC area in 2013 and have a shared passion for authentic New York style pizza.

On weekends, Matt’s love for anything mechanical, adventure activities and being near the water makes sailing his favorite “leisure” activity.  He can most commonly be found building something, fixing something or planning how to build or fix something.
