May 17, 2007 · 9:30 AMHey Team,
We’re up and running! Looking forward to interacting via blog.
The purpose of this blog is to share information, build community, and keep accountability. I think our main use will be with the Friday Fast. I’d like for us to check in and mention what we’re fasting as well as our learnings.
See you all next Wednesday, PJ

Excerpts from some of my recent ramblings…
5.11.07
I have only read the first page of the book Humility. For some reason, I am finding it difficult to start…perhaps it is a fear that in reality I am not living my life with as much humility as I should be, or could be? It is uncomfortable to be confronted with truths that are meant to challenge you. I suppose though, that this is how God communicates that we really need to change, or open our eyes to something new. I mentioned in the first team meeting that I felt like one of my hopes and fears was to be challenged on the this trip. Hope because it will help to stretch us, open our eyes and hearts to something new, force us to use our God given talents in news ways. Fear because that process can sometimes be very uncomfortable. As Americans, we live in the lap of luxury in many respects, we are accustomed to feeling comfortable, and if not, having the access to resources that will help to make us feel more comfortable. In other parts of the world, others are not so lucky. You’re hungry? Too bad, there is nothing to eat. You’re cold? Too bad, there is no additional clothing to put on. You don’t have a place to sleep? Too bad, there are no homes available for you, and no shelter. You’re hungry for knowledge? Too bad, there are no schools. But, the one thing I’m noticing while I write this is that if someone, anywhere in the world says, “I’m lost, I need guidance, strength, and grace.” Good thing, the Lord is always near…no matter if you live in a penthouse suite in NYC, or a small straw hut in the African bush…God will hear your call, and answer your prayers in HIS own ways. To have faith in the Lord is a gift indeed, a gift that we are giving and a gift that we have received, and receive everytime we pray, confess, and ask.
Lord, as we prepare for this mission trip, help us to open our eyes, ears, and hearts to your presence, to your inaudible yet boisterous voice. Help us to see the miracles and prayers that you are conducting in our individual lives and on behalf of the team. Help us to continue to make note of these miracles and answered prayers, so that we may be able to thank You fully.

Lord, guide me to work like it depends on me, to seek You with more intention and to do what I need to do to continue the preparation for this mission trip.
5.25.07
We are starting to create a powerful force behind this mission trip...my sixth sense tells me so. :0)
Lord, grant us the creativity that we will need to make this trip successful. Prepare our hearts for the work ahead in the very personal lives of others half a world away. Lord, on the same note, please begin to prepare the hearts of those that will be guiding us during our stay, those that we will be working with, and those that we will help. Help them to see our intentions as good, Lord. Please also help us to keep in mind the real and logical needs of the people in Uganda; block from our grasps those things that would not be helpful to them.

We are proud parents of Jennifer and Joanna Charron, who are going with you to Uganda! Who else is going and how many are going?

Marilyn,
Thanks for your support of the team. We have 21 people attending the trip. You can see many of the names above (I’m not going to post last names on here). Thanks for being a part of our extended team!
