Seeking God for an Early Homecoming for Prodigals
Rachel Johnston · March 05, 2008 · 3:00 AM
Dear Lord,
God we ask that you would gather your children back to you. That you would bring us closer to you and through that closer to each other. Lord, we are hurting from broken relationships and we ask that you would bring healing. Give us your grace to forgive those who have hurt us and give us boldness to approach those we have hurt to ask for their forgivness. God we pray that you would fill us with your compassion so that we might be able to see the people around us the way you see them. Sustain us as we pray for those we love that haven’t come to know you and grant us understanding and love as we go on in our relationships until the day comes when we will love each other perfectly in heaven.
Amen.
Day 27 Seeking God to Draw the Nations to Learn His Ways of Peace
Krystal Cooper · March 03, 2008 · 3:00 AM
Father God,
Thank you for giving us Jesus as a peace offering. You are The Reconciler, The Ultimate Peacemaker. Yes, Lord teach us concerning your ways; that all nations might come together under your banner of peace as One. May the glory of the Kingdom come in the manifestation of your peace in all the world. We place under your submission the civil unrest throughout the nations of your beautiful Africa, for them we petition for peace. We place under your authority the U.S. troops and wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, for them we petition for peace. We place under your your will, the terror and reliqious zeal that quakes the thirsty Middle East, for them we petition for peace. Father God, may our nations submit to your transforming words, for the children of God will be peacemakers indeed.
Amen
Seeking God to fill our city with what brings peace
Bradley Rhein · March 02, 2008 · 2:11 AM
Father, bring your peace to this city. Help us turn to you and begin to break down the walls and tensions among us. May we offer and receive forgiveness, remembering that you forgave us. Continue to raise up peacemakers who will no longer regard people from a worldly point of view but instead be committed, by the power and leading of your Spirit, to the ministry of reconciliation.
Thank you, Lord, for reconciling us to yourself! Fill us, O Lord, and send us out into this city as your ambassadors. Take our hands and feet and turn them into instruments of your peace. May the people we encounter be receptive and responsive. Soften their hearts as you have softened ours. Thank you Lord! Amen.
Seeking God to come judging evil and guiding many to live rightly
Bradley Rhein · March 01, 2008 · 2:11 AM
Father, we know that you are a God of justice, but also a God of redemption and restoration. Lord, bring revival to this city! Draw us by your Spirit, teaching us your ways so that we can live in freedom and peace. Remind us that your mercies are new every morning; how great is your faithfulness!
Lord, nothing is beyond your redemption. Your work on the cross covers all wrongs and your grace is sufficient. Though our sins have been our downfall, we want to return to you! Father, receive us graciously, that we might offer you the fruit of our lips. There is nowhere else for us to turn. As Hosea wrote, may we flourish like the grain, blossom like the vine, and may our fame, because of you, be like the wine from Lebanon. The glory is yours, Lord!
Amen
Day 24: Seeking God for courage to contend for righteousness
Beth · February 29, 2008 · 12:49 PM
Lord, we praise you this day. We praise your name and rejoice in all that you have done and in all you are going to do. Father, we declare your righteousness, and we glorify you. Father, let us hate evil and instead preserve the souls of the Godly.
Oh Lord, of mercy, hear our prayer this day. Father, give us boldness and energy to perserver against the enemy. Lord, with every battle we fight, we every struggle whe have in your name, let us know that in the end...YOU WIN! Oh Lord, I thank you for that. I thank you for the day, when every knee will bow, and every tongue confess that YOU are Lord. Father, use us in this war, use us in this battle, arm us and equip us to fight for righteousness. Please encourage those who are growing weary in the face of the enemy, give us patience as we work for justice.
Day 23 Seeking God to give leaders love for truth
Heidi Scanlon · February 28, 2008 · 2:00 AM
Oh God You Alone are Truth
From the highest heights to the lowest depths your truth and your words are proclaimed. All your words are true and just. We need your truth poured into our hearts through your word. May it be that we filter every “truth” we hear through your Holy Scripture. Thanks that your Name and your Words are exalted above all else and your Word is truth. Thank you that you made it for us so that we could know the truth and it would set us free. (John 8)
But sometimes we get off your truth track. We let a little deception creep in. A little sin pollutes our stream. Our waters that are pure get salty. We need a flush of your Spirit to clean us and our stream so that out of us flows abundant life giving water to us, our families and our friends. Clean us, purify us and give us truth through the power of washing by your word and the blood of your son Jesus.
In opposition to your truth o God, Satan has come and he tells us lies. Every area where we have a loss of hope is a lie believed from the enemy and a foothold given to the devil. Help us to cancel these lies by replacing them with your truth. The more we confess your word to ourselves the more we will believe your truth. Help us to believe the truth of your word more than the circumstances that we see.
Help us O God to call a lie a lie. To route out the deception of the enemy in our lives. Train us to cut ourselves free from these lies. Show us that the Son of Man was made manifest that he might destroy the works of the devil (especially his lies). Because then when we cast off these lies that hinder us, we can embrace your truth that sets us free indeed. God we need your help. This is often too much for us. Show us the way to walk in your truth. Show us how to pray about it. Show us how to love it, lean on it, press into it and give it away as life-giving lovers of people. May it all be to your glory forever and ever. Yay God and Amen.
Day 22 Seeking God to rise up against spiritual enemies
Debra de los Reyes · February 27, 2008 · 3:00 AM
Father God,
You are the Almighty, the I AM. You have gone before Your children in battle time and time again claiming victory over Your children’s enemies, and we are asking that You go into battle for us now. We ask You to lead the battle in spiritual warfare. Our city has become a battle ground. Innocent lives have been caught in the crosshairs. Please save them from the violence going on around them. Give those, who cannot escape, back their neighborhoods. Give them back a hope for the future. Shed light on the darkness and chase it away. Stamp it out. Infiltrate our cities with Your justice. Let Your righteousness reign over the evil that is working hard to prevail. Defeat them God. Bind them and cast them out with Your power. Free those who have suffered from the power of the evil one. Break the chains of bondage on men, women, and children. Save them God. For we know that the victory is Yours. Show Yourself in power and in truth establishing Your kingdom now and forever.
Protect the place of the righteous, who have trusted You. Go before them defending them as they become Your representatives for forgiveness and light in a broken world. Help them set Your standard of what love truly is; that it gain momentum to wipe out the hate, hopelessness, and fear that is rampant in our cities. We know You will be victorious. We anticipate Your kingdom established. Amen!
Day 21 Seeking God to grant the gift of righteousness
Debra de los Reyes · February 26, 2008 · 3:00 AM
JEHOVAH-TSIDKENU “The Lord Our Righteousness”,
Our pride has hindered our reliance on You. We have allowed our pride to blind us to living a life righteous in Your sight. We are so busy proving what we can do, that we do not understand how much we CANNOT do by our self-pride. Our arrogance has cost us. We no longer understand the true difference between right and wrong. We use Your Word out of context to suit our own needs, not for seeking truth or humility. And certainly not to live righteous lives that rely on You. Bring us back to basics God. Forgive us for breaking Your heart yet again. Bless us with faith. Faith to live in hourly reliance on You. Break us down. We want to live in the sweetness of God-wrought humility and righteousness. Please continue to call to us, help us to understand that intelligence, worldly riches, power, and religious habits do not account for anything, without Your righteousness in our lives. In Jesus Name, Amen
Day 20: Seeking God to hear of our confession of unrighteousness
Adrienne Hancock · February 24, 2008 · 10:31 PM
Gracious Lord, This week we pray for our city to become righteous. To seek your justice so that your way will be done. But we need to deal with ourselves first. What is so easy to spot in others - what we eagerly point out and look down at - is growing in us as well. Take away the dirty weights that we carry around. Forgive us for ignoring others, not loving people who are hard to love, being defensive and not holding others accountable. Help us build each other up. Heal our wounds and unite us to spread your Word. You want to forgive us and now we ask forgiveness. I’m sorry for being discouraged even when your Word says you have a plan (Jerimiah 29:11). I’m sorry for fostering and spreading anger when you warn us not to (Ephesians 4:29-32). I’m sorry for trying to do it myself when you are obviously more capable, have better ideas, and desire to give me more than I could imagine anyway (Isaiah 55:8-9). I want to do better. I know it won’t work without you. Help me remember these scriptures, spend time in prayer, react with kindness, and take deep breaths! Thank you Jesus, Amen.
Day 19: Seeking God to establish justice
Adrienne Hancock · February 24, 2008 · 7:14 AM
Glory be to your name, Father. We praise you this morning for your justice. Remind us today of your power to reward the righteous and end suffering brought by evil on this earth. Help us recognize that you are with us, God. When it seems like your back is turned, or when you have given up, remind us that Jesus conquered evil. When spiritual battles are lost, remind us that Jesus has already won the war. We are not defeated. We pray the Holy Spirit will guide us to have hope, take action, and be your vessels for establishing justice on this earth. Amen!
