Day 18: Seeking God to become famous for his works
Beth · February 22, 2008 · 3:00 AM
Lord, you get very little, if any, recognition for what it is that you do on a daily basis. Lord, you get no credit from your people for the daily events that we take for granted nor to the miracles you perform in answer to the prayers we pray. Father, forgive us for not glorifying your name more. Forgive us for not shouting from the rooftops everytime you answer every little prayer we pray. Father, let us give glory, because glory is due. Let us praise your name in public so that our families, neighbors, communities, and city would see the goodness you have bestowed.
Lord, let those people in our city, who don’t personally know you - but cling to the potential idea of a God in hope of a miracle in their life, or ask a question to the air, hoping but not fully convinced that someone can hear them - let them know that it is YOU who hears them, YOU who answers their prayers, and YOU who deserves their praise. Lord, let those in our city who do know you, shout about you with joy so that others would know you.
Father, I pray as this guidebook does, that you would flood our city with light, as if the sun were rising! Let our glory to you be as you say it will be one day - every toungue confessing, every knee bowing, that you, Jesus Christ are Lord.
Day 17: Seeking God to Advance City-Wide Movements
Beth · February 22, 2008 · 3:00 AM
Lord, God, we know that You are a mover and a shaker. We ask you this, day to make us part of that moving and shaking. Oh Lord, let us be a strong link in the chain of events, tiny little events that you have planned to move this city, to move this state/locale, to move this nation, to move this world. Let us realize that our movements only need to be movements and not earthquakes, let us realize that you can do so much with one little nudge, one little push, one little burst of energy.
Father, let us not take any relationship or person in our lives for granted. Let us take the opportunity to share your love, with everyone we meet. Let our smile to the stranger on the metro be a warm greeting, let our offer to help an elderly person warm their heart and see hope in a lonely world. Let our Godly example at work, show colleagues that there is goodness in this world. Let our light, be your light. Lord, please shine through all we do, all we say, and all we are. Let all whom we come in contact with, Lord, know, somehow through the example we set, and the moves we make, that you are Lord.
Amen.
Seeking God to form many new fellowships.

Thank you Lord that you took the initiative to develop a relationship with us from the very beginning. Thank you that you always set a perfect example for us to follow.
Lord, give us the courage to go out and develop relationships. Help us to strengthen our Christian relationships. More so, help us to develop relationships with non-Christians so that we can lead them to you.
Help us as a church to reach deeper into the community than ever before. Give us vision and direction on how to go about reaching the community that you have placed us in.

Seeking God to bring healing that reveals His Glory.
Chris Todd · February 20, 2008 · 1:08 AM
Lord Jesus,
We thank you for the experiences you have allowed us to have. All of the good ones and even the bad ones. We know that your ways are higher than our ways and that sometimes things happen that at that moment we don’t understand.
Lord, we ask that you take our scars and heal them. We are not praying that you make us forget, just that you heal us of the pain. Then we can take what the devil meant for evil and turn it around for good. Give us the strength to use our scars to minister to others whose scars have not healed yet. Use our past pain to minister to others to bring you glory.
In Jesus name.
Seeking God to Rescue People Enslaved in Spiritual Darkness
Rachel Johnston · February 19, 2008 · 3:00 AM
Dear Lord,
We ask the you would send your Spirit to free us from the darkness in our lives, that you would find and illuminate the hidden parts of our hearts. Jesus you are the light of the world and we pray that you would send your light into our world, all of it. Lord please rescue people who have been bound by particular sins for so long that they have a difficult time seeing a way out of them. God please grant us freedom to live in you. Help us to turn our backs on the things that separate us from you and turn your face to shine upon us.
Amen
Seeking God to Empower the Proclamation of His Word
Rachel Johnston · February 18, 2008 · 3:00 AM
Dear Lord,
Please give us your power and strength to go boldly into our world and tell others about you and the love you have for us. Help us to ingest your word into our spirits so that it would always be at the tip of our tongues so that when opportunities arise we would be ready to tell friends and coworkers about the things you have done for us. Lord help us to take your command that we “go and proclaim everywhere the kingdom of God” to heart and know that you are not just speaking to people who preach for a living but to each person who in their heart knows that Christ is Lord. Help us to not see this command as a burden but as an opportunity to share the joy that we experience with people who are in desperate need of joy.
Holy Spirit we ask you to guide us, to give us the words to proclaim you clearly. We ask that people would be able to understand, at least a part, your goodness and love, that we would not be held back by the confines of language and that you would prepare the hearts of people that we talk to so that they would be in a place that is open to hearing and excepting Jesus. Lord please use us to reach every corner of DC and this nation with the good news that you have redeemed us.
Thank you for hearing us.
Seeking God to send His people to every place
Krystal Cooper · February 17, 2008 · 3:31 AM
Father God,
Thank you for allowing all the nations of the earth to be grafted into the Holy Branch. Allow the lives of Your people to be living testimonies, not only in their families, but in their workplaces, their social arenas, their neighborhoods, their communities, their nation and even to the very ends of the earth. Inspire in us a desire for the nations, Father. Allow us to become excited for Your people of different nationalities, races, languages and ethnicities that we might get a clearer perspective of the diversity and depth of Your kingdom. Help us to see with Christ’s eyes those in our city that go unnoticed, those that remain untouched by the expanse of your great love.
Use us O Lord as your instruments of peace to declare the gospel clearly, with discernment, wisdom and with the power of the Holy Spirit to the people You have put in our path. Help us to not over look opportunities to share about our King, not only in Word, but also in our Actions. Help us to evangelize with cultural intelligence in our country and in others that we might estimate needs accurately and convey the Gospel with relevance. Thank You for being our King; the source of our Righteousness, Peace, and Joy.
Seeking God to Manifest His Presence
Krystal Cooper · February 16, 2008 · 5:37 AM
Father God,
Thank you that we may enter your presence with joy and expectancy. We admit that many times in our lives we have strayed from You, ignored You, tried to hide from You, or have even been oblivious to Your presence. Help us to consistently seek You not only day to day, but moment to moment. Let the knowledge of the Spirit’s presence cause Your light to radiate from within us. Light the path for us in our walk as we trust in You. Let our paths be lit by Your radiance as we walk in the truth of the Word, the peace of the gospel, and the unsurpassing greatness of knowing You through Jesus Christ.
Father, we pray that Your kingdom radiates outward from within us that family, friends, coworkers, and even strangers may see the light, by which we walk. Allow us to witness boldly about that light, which has come into the world. Open the eyes of our loved ones that they might see you and know You as the source of life, truth and even all creation. Father, expose the sins of this world by Your light, allowing those who do not yet know You to yearn for redemption and find it in an encounter with the risen Lord Jesus.
We admit that we are not always rooted in the Word as we should be. Restore the joy and ignite the passion that we once received when we first heard of our King. Let the flicker of hope inside of us turn into a blazing fire as we are consumed and refined by Your Word. Let us thirst for You during the day and hunger for Your Word at night. Let us fall asleep with the passion of the gospel on our hearts and awake with the expectant joy that comes from believing it. Let us know that You alone will satisfy us. You alone quench our thirst. You alone are the Bread. Let our hope be only in You.
Amen.
Seeking God for an outpouring of His Spirit
Bradley Rhein · February 15, 2008 · 2:11 AM
Lord Jesus, we know that only because of you we have victory. Thank you for being our sacrifice, setting us free from the sin that so easily entangles us. O Lord, help us to claim that victory each day, experiencing how your mercies are new every morning.
Thank you, Lord, for sending us your Spirit! Help us to be more sensitive to your Spirit’s leading, more obedient when your Spirit convicts our hearts and more trusting and courageous in either case. Remind us that your kingdom advances not by our might or power, but by you Spirit. Your Spirit goes beyond all might and power!
Lord, we ask for an outpouring of your Spirit, that we might be a people filled by your Spirit, living powerfully for your glory. Could we be an extension of your tongue, O Lord? Could we dream a more ridiculous dream, a dream only you would dare dream? Could we envision something utterly amazing, something we know could only come from you? Here we are, Lord. Our eyes are fixed on you.
Seeking God to Unite His People
Bradley Rhein · February 14, 2008 · 6:40 AM
Lord, help us to come together in perfect unity! Help us grow in compassion and kindness and humility and gentleness and patience. Help us to hang in there together and forgive each other, as you forgave us. Continually remind us of your love for us so that we can pour out that love to others.
Father, you have been faithful in the past, bringing a scattered people together time and time again. Let us be gathered together at your call for your cause. Lead us, as one body made up of many parts, by your Spirit to act, forcefully advancing your kingdom in this world.
Let our love and concern for each other flourish wildly. As Psalm 133 says “How good and pleasant is it when brothers live together in unity!”
In Jesus’ name
