Accessibility Statement

At National Community Church, we value each person. In fact, it's in our core values: "Everyone is invaluable and irreplaceable." We want everyone who visits our church to have the same opportunity of hearing the message of Jesus Christ and seeing God's will for their lives. No exceptions.

Our Services

In many of our services, we offer interpretation of the worship and message (the entire service) for the Deaf community. We are grateful for the opportunity to minister to this community in the DC area and for the many volunteers who give of their time and expertise in order to create an accessible worship service for the Deaf.

At every location, we also offer access to our building for people with a disability or handicap. Through partnership with our rented facilities and design of our permanent building, Ebenezers, we are able to provide close parking access for those registered with the DMV as a person with a handicap as well as ramps and elevators throughout all facilities.

If you have a question regarding the accessibility of any of our locations, please contact NCC at the information provided below.

Web Standards

Our approach to people isn't radical. But the depth of our conviction over accessibility is. That's why we've built this website to adhere to standards set forth by the World Wide Web Consortium.

The W3C issues coding standards for use by web developers. These standards ensure people with a disability, handicap or impairment have a fair shot at accessing content published on the web. For instance, many people who are blind browse the web using screen readers, hardware and software devices that probe the web site's source code and relay discernable content back to an audio device which the person then hears.

Unfortunately, when web developers fail to account for web standards, it creates a layer of inaccessibility for devices like the screen reader. In today's world, there are so many different devices, from cell phones to PDAs, that browse the web. If we fail to adhere to web standards, we risk shutting out the content of our site to those users as well. As you can see, the importance of web standards is probably underestimated today.
