India Mission Team Info Session

Contrasting with India’s vibrant colors, aromas, and its rich cultural heritage are the dark industries of human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Economic hardships and the lack of livelihood options combined with an entrenched, oppressive class system leave thousands desperate enough to become trapped in–or sometimes forced into–the vicious cycle of sex slavery.

For four years now, we have partnered with Sparsh in Pune with the focus of investing in the lives of children of current sex slaves. We will also be supporting their various initiatives that provide hope for current women in bondage as well as holistic restoration to rescued victims of trafficking and exploitation and to drug addicts. We will be working directly with local communities and with woman and children in the infamous red light districts to bring hope, joy, and love while facilitating healing.

ParentShare: For Working Moms

Hosted in NE DC at the Higdon home by Julie Carr. Julie is a long-time NCCer who is raising four children as a working mom. It's going to be a super casual but really intentional time to talk about the challenges and pulls that working moms experience. Fifteen years ago she became a mom and started to navigate how to wear both the working and parenting hats at the same time. She is excited to share what she has learned along the way. This will be a safe place to ask lots of questions and wrestle through the challenges together! Email Julie for time and more info.

A Refugee Reality

We've heard a lot in the news about refugees over the past few years. Folks fleeing their homes due to war, famine, and fear of persecution. What is it like to become a refugee? Where are refugees coming from? Why do they get settled in the United States?

National Community Church (NCC) takes a look at these questions, and others, by hearing from a newly resettled refugee friend and some local professionals intimately involved in the resettlement process. Come join us as we tackle things from a Christian perspective as we look and listen about the refugee reality. Open to everyone.
Thursday, May 4, 7pm  at The Miracle Theatre.

Holy Land Study Tour

Contact: Jodi Otto • jodi.otto@theaterchurch.com

St. Jerome called the Holy Land "the fifth Gospel." We will take a four-dimensional approach to Biblical study by focusing on it through historical, geographical, cultural, and spiritual lenses. By studying the Bible onsite with insight, we are able to re-enter our contemporary world better equipped to determine what it means for us today. We will dive into the story of Abraham in Beersheba, join the Exodus in the Wilderness of Zin, gaze on the battlefield of David and Goliath at the Valley of Elah, and walk with Jesus from Bethlehem to Nazareth to Galilee to Jerusalem.

September 1-11, 2017. Led by Pastor Heather Zempel and Pastor Dave Schmidgall. Stay tuned for details. Interested? Email Jodi to be put on the list for updates.
