Community Development

When: Ongoing

A missional church is one that engages and works towards Kingdom solutions that build a flourishing city. Through knowing our neighbors by name, we can help meet needs within our own communities. Taking a look at the gaps and needs of our communities and engaging with the organizations that are working locally to make change. Serve with one of our partners in your community.

Ways to get Involved:

  • Justice and Equality (Event Based and Ongoing)- Justice + Equality serves marginalized communities by providing academic resources, peacemaking initiatives, and advocacy to elected officials for laws and budgets to be passed in favor of the disenfranchised. With the help of a large network, they work together to bring change and healing to local communities. Some of the key areas of focus are: Education Reform, Economic Empowerment, Mental Health Support, Violence Interruption, More Accountability for Policing and Prison Reform. To learn more and get invovled check out Justice + Equality.

  • Peace of Art DC (Event Based and Ongoing)- Peace of Art DC is an artistic leadership program which is offered to middle and high school students that live in neighborhoods that are traumatized by gun violence in Washington, DC. They offer leadership skills (restorative justice techniques, conflict resolution skills, and ways to make wise friendship choices) and life skills (financial literacy, post-secondary education planning, and entrepreneurship training). Peace of Art DC is a safe place for our city’s youth where they can avoid gun violence and learn how to help others do the same. While in our program, students earn a stipend and get the opportunity to showcase their visual and performing art on a global platform, thanks to our celebrity and industry expert partners. To get involved check out Peace of Art DC.
